June is known for Autistic Pride Day on June 18th and Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month and the Council is happy to share a variety of upcoming events, community feedback opportunities, and ongoing ways you can make your voice heard. Whether you are looking to attend a specific gathering, share your perspective through a survey, or connect with the community at large, there is an opportunity for you.

Events:

  • Thursday, June 4th, 10am-11am – Virtual Public Comment Session – The Colorado Developmental Disabilities Council (us!) is holding a virtual Public Comment Session on the draft goals and objectives for our upcoming 5-year state plan. This listening session is your chance to offer public comment on our proposed goals and objectives, which are available for review on our website. This event will not be a presentation or question and answer session. Registration is required and can be done here.
  • Saturday, June 13th, 10am-2pm – Neurodiversity Resource Fair Denver Academy — 4400 E. Iliff Ave., Denver, CO 80222.
  • Wednesday, June 17th 10:00am-11:30am – Gabbing with Gabe & Gisa: Access in Action – Cross-Departmental Collaboration in ADA Accessibility: This interactive session is designed to provide community members, advocates, and partners with a greater understanding of how multiple departments across RTD work together to support accessibility, equitable service delivery, and customer experience throughout our transit system.   • Saturday, June 20th, 9am – 4pm – Teen Life Conference (TLC)is a statewide, youth-led healthcare conference made by teens, for teens. Hosted by the Colorado Cross-Disability Coalition (CCDC) and Colorado’s Regional Accountable Entities, TLC will bring together high school students from across Colorado for a day of awareness, advocacy, and action on Saturday, June 20th in Denver.

Community Surveys:

  • Disability Law Colorado is seeking community feedback to decide what our focus areas will be for next year. The deadline for responding to the survey is July 31, 2026.
  • TASH-Colorado is developing a five-year strategic plan to guide our priorities, strengthen our impact, and shape the future of our work. Here is a survey link.  
  • The Colorado Department of Human Services is offering an anonymous survey to gather thoughts and feedback on using CDHS services and programs.
  • The People with Disabilities for Immigration Advocacy Coalition is working to understand how family-based immigration backlogs affect people with disabilities and their families and are collecting information and lived experiences to support community education efforts and to advocate for policy improvements. They are looking for participation in their survey to help identify common challenges, highlight community needs, and strengthen advocacy for fair and inclusive immigration policies. This survey is only for people in Colorado.

  • Friday, July 24, 2026, 5:30–7:00 PM: Doors open at 5pm, Denver Museum of Nature & Science – CCDC’s Annual ADA Access Awards: Unsung Heroes where we honor the individuals whose behind-the-scenes work is driving real change in disability justice across Colorado. Sarah will be honored with a “Radiance in Action” award.
