The Council is pleased to share “Colorado Community Survey Results” with you. This report presents the data findings and analysis from our statewide community survey and focus groups in the summer of 2025. People with disabilities, their families, and supporters shared their experiences and needs. We want to give a special thanks to the Colorado Office of Employment First (COEF) for their support and partnership on this project.

The report explains:

  • Where people feel supported
  • Where people need more help
  • What barriers make life harder
  • What services people use and what services are hard to get
  • How experiences in rural Colorado are different from those in the Front Range

This report helps the Council understand the most important needs of people with IDD and their families, as well as areas where more support is needed. It also helps us understand what a meaningful life looks like to different people, including their community and background. We will use this to decide what to work on next in the five-year state plan to create conditions for change so people can live a meaningful life of their choice.

The perspectives of people with disabilities make our communities stronger and better for everyone. Based on the results of the literature review, community survey and policy scan conducted last year, the Council decided at its January 28th meeting to focus on three main priority areas: Health Care, Housing and Employment.

We will be hosting Community Listening Sessions on Monday, February 9th in the selected areas. To help us decide what types of projects you want to see included in the five-year plan, please register for one or more of the listening sessions on the topics that interest you most. Registration is required.

You can also give feedback here on any of the three topics. These ideas will be shared with the Council and its committees as we work to develop the next five-year plan to improve the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) in Colorado.

At the listening sessions, we will be using a virtual whiteboard to share and prioritize ideas from the community. Participants will also be able to give input in chat to be recorded on the board to support accessibility. If you prefer to chat with a staff member or have an accommodation request to provide your feedback, please email Yadiel at yadiel.tesfaye@state.co.us
