July is Disability Pride month and we are happy to provide a summary of several partner events happening in our community this month. The 2026 Disability Pride Theme is “The World Works Better With Us.”

New Opportunities:
- Saturday, July 11, 2026, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM; Help Make Power Outages Safer. The City of Boulder and the Center for People With Disabilities (CPWD) are hosting a community conversation about power outages. Lunch and a gift card will be provided to in-person attendees. - Recent power outages and their impact on people with disabilities
- Resources that helped and gaps that remain
- Ways to improve communication, emergency planning, and support
- How the city, utilities, and community members can work together
- If you or a loved one receives Medicaid, consider joining the Medicaid Member Table to share your experiences and help make important updates easier to understand. Stipends available! Interest form.
- Denver Human Services is looking for Denver residents who have personal or professional experience with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) to join the IDDEAS Advisory Council. We are particularly seeking applicants who reside or work in Denver City Council Districts 2,3, or 8. These include neighborhoods such as Barnum, Westwood, Villa Park, Harvey Park, Kennedy, Berkeley, but anyone is welcome to apply using our 2026 application form.

- Wednesday, July 1, 2026, 1:00 PM; Disability Pride Kick-Off Party. Join Atlantis Community Inc. as they kick off Disability Pride Month with an afternoon of celebration, community, music, and food. This event is at their office located at 201 S. Cherokee St. Denver, CO 80223.
- Sunday, July 5, 2026, 5:30 – 8 PM; Accommodate This: A Night of Disability Pride Comedy. An evening built with accessibility at its foundation, not bolted on as an afterthought. - Saturday, July 18, 2026, 11 AM – 7 PM; Disability Pride Month Celebration. Hosted by The Colorado Disability Opportunity Office (CDOO) and Atlantis Community Inc. More information coming soon.
- Friday, July 24, 2026, 5:30–7:00 PM; Doors open at 5pm, Denver Museum of Nature & Science – CCDC’s Annual ADA Access Awards: Unsung Heroes where we honor the individuals whose behind-the-scenes work is driving real change in disability justice across Colorado. Sarah will be honored with a “Radiance in Action” award.
- Sunday, July 26, 2026, 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM; Disability Pride Celebration at Clyfford Still Museum. Stop by the Museum’s outdoor forecourt for a creative activity as the Clyfford Still Museum celebrates Disability Pride and the 36th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This activity is free, and no registration is required.
Community Surveys:
- Colorado Disability Opportunity Office in partnership with Colorado Health Institute and Colorado Cross Disability Coalition is conducting a statewide disability needs assessment. The deadline for responding to the survey is July 14, 2026. To participate please click here.
- Disability Law Colorado is seeking community feedback to decide what their focus areas will be for next year. The deadline for responding to the survey is July 31, 2026.
- TASH-Colorado is developing a five-year strategic plan to guide their priorities, strengthen their impact, and shape their future work. Here is a survey link.
- The Colorado Department of Human Services is offering an anonymous survey to gather thoughts and feedback on using CDHS services and programs.
